Nikku Khalifian is a business litigation and labor and employment associate with experience handling a variety of matters, from pre-litigation negotiations up to trial, in both state and federal court. She is a skilled communicator and critical thinker, allowing her to zealously advocate for her clients and formulate out-of-the-box solutions to address their needs.

Nikku’s expertise focuses on defending employers against labor and employment claims, including wage and hour, harassment, discrimination and retaliation claims. She has counseled clients through class actions, PAGA actions, and state and federal administrative claims. Nikku provides advice and counsel on labor and employment issues, including conducting mandatory sexual harassment trainings for clients’ exempt and non-exempt employees and conducting reviews of company business practices to ensure legal compliance. She elevates her legal skills in this field by conducting seminars covering relevant labor and employment issues. Nikku’s experience also includes prosecution and defense of construction litigation claims, and defense of financial services claims.

Before joining Novian & Novian, Nikku was a business litigation associate at Womble Bond Dickinson, where she represented small and large companies and individuals in employment, construction, and financial services matters. She graduated from California State University, Long Beach in 2016 (B.S., Criminal Justice & Forensic Science) and received her law degree from Loyola Law School in 2019. During law school, Nikku worked at the Loyola Law School Collateral Consequences of Conviction Justice Project, where she provided free legal representation to assist formerly incarcerated individuals with securing employment, and achieving self-sufficiency and stability. Prior to law school, Nikku gained experience in the field of intellectual property law, helping creators and owners of utility patents, design patents, trademarks, and other works protect their rights.

Pro Bono

Worked with Alliance for Children’s Rights and represented young adult aging out of the foster care system in case seeking continuation of benefits following his 18th birthday.
